Surrey Muslim Association response to terror attack at London Bridge and Borough Market

We are deeply saddened and angered by the horrific attack that killed seven and injuring several others.

We strongly condemn these cowardly acts of violence on innocent people and our prayers are with them, their families and loved ones.

We are also proud of the emergency services who were at the scene within minutes.

The dedication of the emergency services, NHS and the community to help the injured and to make Londoners and visitors to the city, safe and secure has been inspirational and demonstrated humanity and compassion at the darkest times.

Violence and terrorism has NO RELIGION, NO JUSTIFICATION and NO PLACE.

British Muslim communities are equally appalled by the murders, and angered by those who commit abhorrent acts in the name of religion. The perpetrators do not represent us; their views are perverse and self-serving.

It is evil people who do evil things; such acts will only increase our resolve to remain united.

We urge all communities in Britain and Surrey to stand firm with compassion and solidarity. We must not let these terrorists divide us, otherwise the terrorists will win. Let us not play into their divisive narrative, and instead show them that people of all faiths and backgrounds can live peacefully, together.

In the spirit of Peace and Unity the Surrey Muslim Communities would like to invite you to Peace vigils taking place in Surrey:

Shah Jahan Mosque

149 Oriental Rd, Woking GU22 7BA
8.45pm Weds 7th June

Al Kharafi Mosque

282 London Road, Camberley, Surrey, GU15 3JP
8.45pm Weds 7th June

And to stay for Iftar (breaking of fasting) and to enjoy some food and a chat.
